Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure which is done to correct defects, deformities and disfigurement of the eyelids. It is done for both medical and aesthetic reasons. The procedure can correct the problems by excision and removal of excess tissues, repositioning of fat and reinforcement of eye muscles etc.

This fold is known as supratarsal epicanthic fold and the surgery is very common in the people of China, Japan, Singapore and some parts of North-East India like Meghalaya, Sikkim, Mizoram etc.
